WASHINGTON D.C., DC — Many know Tom Wilson as a physical player during Capitals games.
But the team and a many of his fans know he's more than just the enforcer.
The Capitals nominated him for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, given to a player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice, and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution.
If you’re not sure what that means, just look at the smiling faces of kids who benefit from his kindness.
Many of the charities he works with benefit children, including Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, So Kids Can and his own 43's friends.
This is the softer side we don't always get to see of Wilson.
The NHL will announce three finalists next Tuesday.
