Police said their investigation showed the man came to the residence and shot the woman after an altercation

DUMFRIES, Va. —

Prince William County Police have identified the husband and wife involved in a murder-suicide investigation in Dumfries.

Police said the victim, 35-year-old Lemlem Hayelu Habte told police she argued with her husband, 44-year-old Christopher Andre Quincer the day before she was killed. Authorities say the argument escalated when Quincer assaulted his wife at their home on Balsam Street in Woodbridge.

A family member inside the home heard the fight and came to separate the two, according to police. Quincer fled the home and police were called. Habte was later transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officers later obtained a warrant for domestic assault and battery against Quincer and an Emergency Protective Order. After her treatment, police escorted Habte back to her home. Officials checked the home for Quincer but were unable to find him.

Later, Habte left her home to stay with family at a home in the 4100 block of Marjon Court in Dumfries. Authorities returned to Habte and Quincer’s home to serve Quincer with the warrant and EPO, but were unable to find him.

Police said around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Quincer drove to Marjon Court and confronted his wife, shot her and then shot himself.

People inside the home at the time called police. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
