PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Part of the Suitland Parkway was closed for a deadly shooting investigation on Friday evening.
US Park Police said a vehicle was traveling outbound when it was hit several times by gunfire around 2 p.m.
The outbound lanes of Suitland Parkway were closed between Naylor Road and Suitland Road due to the investigation.
Officials say the driver of the vehicle died and a woman in the passenger seat was also shot.
The woman who was in the passenger seat was taken to the hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.
Investigators are trying do determine whether the shots came from a passing vehicle or from the side of the road.
