Police: Suspect waited for them to arrive after shooting, killing man in Chantilly

Police said the suspect, Steven A. Green, waited for them to arrive.

CHANTILLY, Va. — A Manassas man is facing multiple charges after allegedly shooting and killing a man in a Chantilly parking lot early Friday morning.

According to Lt. Christopher Sharpe, spokesman for the Fairfax County Police Department, officers were called to a strip mall in the 14500 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway for a report of a shooting.  

When police got there, they found a man with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. Emergency responders took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Friday night, police identified the victim as Miguel Angel Leiva Hernandez, 30, of Chantilly.

Police said the suspect, Steven A. Green, waited for them to arrive. They charged him with murder, malicious wounding, and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

He is being held without bound at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Lt. Sharpe said a woman and another man was also hurt during the incident. They were not shot and are expected to recover.

Police said they found the gun they believe was involved in the shooting when they arrested Green.

According to Lt. Sharpe, several people witnessed the shooting, all of whom were detained at the scene and questioned by investigators.
