WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A D.C. man will spend more than 30 years in jail for killing two people and injuring another in a shooting inside a car off North Capitol Street last year.

On Monday, 36-year-old Jimmie Fleming was sentenced to 36 years in prison on charges stemming from a shooting, says U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. Fleming pleaded guilty last September to two counts of voluntary manslaughter while armed for the deaths of Donchell Thomas and Derek Price, and one count of aggravated assault while armed, for the shooting of the third victim. He will be placed on five years of supervised released after he completes his prison term.

According to the government's evidence, on July 13, 2014, at about 1 a.m., Fleming and a juvenile got into a blue Honda Accord that Price was driving near North Capitol and T Streets NW. Thomas was in the back seat, and another person was in the front seat. Price agreed to drive Fleming and the juvenile, who got into the back seat, down the street.

Fleming then pulled out a gun and fired it at everyone inside the car. Authorities say the shooting was unprovoked.

Price and Thomas were both shot in the head and died. The front seat passenger was shot multiple times in his torso and arm, but survived the shooting. The juvenile was not shot.

The car crashed at the intersection of North Capitol and T Streets, and Fleming ran to a nearby house. Police arrested him there. They also searched the home, finding a bag of ammunition in Fleming's room, say authorities.
