A 25-year-old man died after he was hit by a car Friday evening in Fairfax County, police say.
Around 7 p.m., Fairfax County Police Department said they responded to Centrewood Drive near the Centrewood Plaza shopping center for report of a pedestrian struck by a car.
Police have identified the victim as 25-year-old Diego Brito Lopez.
Officials believe Lopez was trying to cross the street when he was hit by a 2009 Hyundai sedan. Lopez was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing according to a police report.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Officials said the Lopez was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives do not believe speed or alcohol caused the driver to hit the Lopez. No charges are expected at this time.
