A lockdown at Virginia State University was lifted early Friday, after police responded to a shooting on campus just after 11 p.m. Thursday.

A man was found with a gunshot wound on campus around 11:06 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Campus police placed the university on lockdown as they investigated the shooting in the 1 block of Hayden Street. However, police said this was an isolated incident and there was no active threat toward students.

It is the second time in less than a week someone has been shot on that campus. Last week, a man was shot during homecoming festivities.
