'It's a tie' | Chief vs. Chief dog adoptions final tally

Jihoo, who has been at the shelter the longest, was adopted during the event by a DoorDash driver delivering an order for a staff member.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — At least twenty dogs have found their furever homes thanks to an adoption event held through Super Bowl Sunday in Fairfax County.

Police Chief Kevin Davis and Fire Chief John Butler faced off in the Fairfax County Animal Shelter's Chief vs. Chief Adoption Bowl. It started on Thursday, Feb. 8 and ended on Sunday, Feb. 11, with each of them leading a team of adoptable dogs and competing to find the most loving homes.

Officials say the bowl ended in a tie, with 10 dogs adopted from Chief Davis' team and 10 dogs adopted from Chief Butler's team.

One dog named Jihoo, who has been at the shelter the longest, was adopted during the event by a DoorDash driver delivering an order for a staff member. Officials say "Jihoo caught his eye through the window when he came to deliver the order, and our staff member introduced them. The driver came to drop off some food and left with a pup!"

Many more dogs are still in need of loving homes. Anyone looking to adopt can visit either shelter location in Virginia; the Michael R. Frey Campus at 4500 West Ox Rd., Fairfax, VA 22030, or the Lorton Campus at 8875 Lorton Rd., Lorton, VA 22079. They can also visit the shelter's website for more information.
