WASHINGTON -- Wawa opened in Tenleytown on Thursday, offering its customers free coffee of any size through Sunday in celebration of its grand opening.
Wawa's doors open to the public at 8 a.m., but the grand opening will officially kick off at 9 a.m. The convenient store is located at 4530 40th Street in Northwest.
“We are thrilled to continue spreading our wings into the Washington, DC, market and to fulfill the lives of more customers and communities than ever before with our 4th store in the District,” said Adam Schall, Wawa's Senior Director of Store Operations. “We look forward to serving the Tenleytown community and are excited about continuing our expansion in DC well into the future!"
The grand opening celebration will honor local non-profits and schools with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, free food samples and a hoagie-building contest to support the USO, a non-profit organization that supports America's military service members by keeping them connected to their family, community and country.
Wawa will continue its expansion into the district with its fifth store scheduled to open in fall, 2019. The fifth store will be located at 2424 18th Street in Northwest.
