'They just started shooting!' | 2 Woodbridge homes shot at, police investigating possible connection

In 24 hours, two homes were shot at in Woodbridge, twice.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — It's been a scary few weeks for one Woodbridge family, who were woken up by gunfire not once, but twice in 24 hours.

"They just started shooting and we couldn't understand what was going on," said Kendra who lives in one of the homes.

She and her son Brenner showed WUSA9 some of the bullet holes. They say one of the bullets actually came into their home along Cobb Court in Woodbridge.

The first time was on April 24, around 2 a.m.

The family says they had heard some noise, but weren't sure what it was. They woke up to find their cars that were parked in the driveway were damage.

But, the second time, on April 25, just after 1 a.m., they heard the gunshots, and their doorbell camera captured what happened.

In the video, you can see the driver of a dark-colored sedan slowly drive past the house, and then gunfire erupts.

"The second time they only shot at our house and that time all of us woke up," said Brenner.

She said it appeared at least six bullets hit their home, and one made it's way inside the house.

"Sometimes at midnight they go and get water. You're by the door, that bullet could hit somebody's face," she explained.

Prince William County Police told WUSA9 they also got similar calls, both nights, at a home on Alaska Road in Woodbridge.

"In both of those shootings there was a dark-colored sedan seen leaving and that's part of the reason police are looking at those possibly being related," said Prince William County Master Police Officer Renee Carr.

She told WUSA9 shootings like this are deeply concerning.

"Anytime there's a shooting into a residence it's alarming," said Master Police Officer Carr.

WUSA9 has been compiling data of "shots fired into residences" calls in Prince William County.

In just the past two weeks, the department has responded to at least five calls like this.

Police couldn't confirm as of Monday afternoon if this is a trend, or if there's been a rise in these calls.

They are still searching for the shooter or shooters and their motive.

Kendra and her family also want to know why.

"We don't understand why but, I hope if they see this from our heart they stop from because it's not fair. We are just normal people who come to work and we work on our house and I think it's not fair," said Kendra.
