Police investigate fatal shooting in Northeast, DC

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Northeast, D.C., Wednesday morning, police said. 

Prince George's County police have identified him as Eric Weaver Jr., of Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast. 

Authorities said Weaver was suffering from a gunshot wound and was driven to Prince George's Count Hospital Center around 12:40 a.m. He died at the hospital a short time later. 

Police said the person(s) who drove him to the hospital fled the scene. Detectives are now trying to identify who dropped Weaver off and when and where the shooting happened.
