Potomac dentist accused of trying to strangle a man during a tennis match

The witness told police the argument began when the two debated whether the victim could take a water break during a tiebreaker.

WASHINGTON — A Potomac, Md. dentist faces two assault charges after an apparent fight at a country club.

The witness wrote Dr. Farzam Tamami attacked him during a tennis match when they started arguing about whether the victim could take a water break during a tiebreaker.

"He dragged me from the chair, thrown [sic] me to the ground, and started to twist my head violently with his hands," the victim wrote in court documents. "This is when I have realized he really aims to do real harm to me (I think he was trying to break my neck.)"

Two staff members pulled Tamami off the victim, according to court documents, but not before the dentist had started suffocating the victim.

It happened at Bretton Woods, a golf and recreation center on the banks of the Potomac. Tamami faces a first degree assault charge as well as a second degree assault charge.
