Police: Man stabbed to death in Lanham by a family member

Police have identified the man killed 21-year-old Cristo Johnson of Lanham.

LANHAM, Md. — A man was stabbed to death inside of a Lanham home Thursday morning, following a domestic incident in Prince George's County. Police have identified the man as 21-year-old Cristo Johnson of Lanham.

Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to Greenfield Drive, off of Good Luck Road, around 7:15 a.m. after a report of a stabbing in the area.

Prince George's County Police Corporal Antonia Washington said when detectives arrived they found a man suffering from at least one stab wound.

Johnson was taken to the hospital for treatment, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police said they believe a woman stabbed Johnson, who was a family member, and then called 911. Police have still not identified the woman involved publicly.

“We are investigating this as a possible self-defense case amongst family members," Washington said.

Police said Johnson and woman lived together and they don't believe anyone else was involved but there are still in the early stages of their investigation.

“This is an isolated incident," Washington said. "We have identified all parties that are involved and there’s no ongoing threat to the community at this time.”

Police would not specified how Johnson and woman are related. There's no word yet on if the woman will face charges. For several hours Thursday, you could see detectives on scene carrying bags and evidence out of the home.

People who live along Greenfield Drive said it is typically quiet in the neighborhood and that they were shocked by the stabbing. The family of the man killed was on scene, but did not want to speak.
