Horse rescued from ditch in Howard County

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 1800 pound horse was rescued from a ditch in Howard County on Wednesday morning, according to Howard County Fire and Rescue Services.

Officials were called to the 8300 block of Johnny Cake Road in Westview for reports of a horse in stuck in a ditch just before 5 a.m., according to officials.

The 7-year-old Clydesdale was found stuck in a ditch beside a house, officials said.

Crews with specialized training and crane equipment conducted the rescue, officials said. The crane was used to lift the horse from the ditch, according to officials.

It took firefighters about 90 minutes to get the horse out of the ditch, officials said. No injuries were reported.
