SILVER SPRING, Md. — Editor's Note: The video above covers a separate shooting investigation that occurred earlier in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Police are investigating after a man's body was found in a wooded area of Silver Spring, Maryland Wednesday night.
According to a spokesperson from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), a shooting was reported in the 9000 block of Piney Branch Road around 6 p.m. When officers arrived, they found an unidentified man who had been shot. He was taken to an area hospital for help and is in stable condition.
While investigating alongside US Park Police, MCPD says K9 officers picked up a scent and led investigations into a wooded area where they found a body.
Police have not said how the person may have died or if the body is connected to the shooting. The chief medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to learn more.
There is no information on the identity of the person who was found dead at this time.
