Dan and Tanya Snyder donate their Potomac mansion to American Cancer Society

ACS says it will sell the home and use the proceeds to help further cancer research and enhance patient support in 20,000 communities across the country.

POTOMAC, Md. — Former Washington Commanders team owner Dan Snyder and wife Tanya, pulled their $49 million waterfront home off of the market earlier this month.

The American Cancer Society announced on March 1, that the Snyder family gifted the organization their lavish real estate property to help improve the lives of cancer patients and their families. Snyder purchased the Potomac, Maryland mansion in 2000 for $8.64 million.

In February 2023 the home was placed on the market for $49 million, after six months the price was reduced to an affordable $34.9 million. It’s unknown if the home received any bids, prior to being taken off the market in March 2024.

ACS says it will sell the home and use the proceeds to help further cancer research and enhance patient support in 20,000 communities across the country.

“We are incredibly grateful for the gift, and the generosity cannot be overstated,” said Dr. Karen Knudsen, CEO of the American Cancer Society.

The Snyders are advocates for cancer awareness and have supported many cancer-related causes and ACS. Tanya Snyder, a cancer survivor herself, was a former national spokeswoman for the NFL’s ‘Crucial Catch” breast cancer awareness program.
