1 dead, another wounded after shooting at Old Fort Hills Park

The Prince George's County Police Department will be handling the investigation. This is the third shooting reported in the county in less than a day.

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another wounded at a park in Prince George's County Friday afternoon. 

According to the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, authorities were called to Old Fort Hills Park in Fort Washington for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found one person dead at the park and a second person wounded. That second victim has been taken to an area hospital for help and there is no word on their condition at this time. 

No suspect information has been released. 

Police have not said anything about possible motives or what may have happened in the moments leading up to the shooting. 

The Prince George's County Police Department will be handling the investigation. This is one of four shootings reported in the county in just one day. 

The first shooting of the day was reported around 8 a.m. in the 400 block of Chillum Road. When officers arrived, they found a person who had been shot. That victim died at the scene. 

The second shooting happened just before 4 p.m. in the 5100 block of Indian Head Highway. Not many details are available regarding what happened, but police have confirmed that a teenager and a woman were both wounded in the shooting. Both victims were taken to an area hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. 

Then just before 9:15 p.m., officers were called to a third double shooting in the county. Two women were taken to an area hospital for help after they were shot in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike. Both are expected to survive.
