TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (WUSA9) -- Dramatic changes are on the way for shoppers in the Temple Hills and Suitland communities of Prince George’s County.

One of the region’s first enclosed malls is about to be redeveloped thanks to a $4 million loan from the county’s Economic Development Incentive Fund.

Meanwhile plans are moving forward for $300 million in new development for the Suitland Town Center.

The Shops at Iverson, formerly known as Iverson Mall is being targeted for major improvements. The mall sits at key intersections along Branch Avenue and is less than a mile from two Metro stops, making it an attractive target for reinvestment, according to County Executive Rushern Baker.

Baker was joined at an announcement of the investments by County Council Chair Derrick L. Davis and Council Member Karen Toles, who represents the area.

Earlier this year, County Executive Baker announced that the Redevelopment Authority and the Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County will invest $52 million in the Suitland area over the next two years to assist with various redevelopment efforts.

This $52 million investment in Suitland will assist in the development of the $300 million Suitland Town Center, a mixed-use development that will feature resident units and retail space.
