MONROVIA, Md — A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged for the possession and the distribution of child pornography, Maryland State Police said.

Joshua David Scalera of Monrovia, Maryland was arrested at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The original investigation began in October 2016, when the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about Scalera owning and attempting to upload and sell child pornography on multiple websites.

Several more tips were received before Maryland law enforcement stepped in, serving a search warrant on Monday that led to the discovery of multiple child pornography files.

Scalera was arrested at his home with incident.
