'My son's condition has gotten worse,' | Father of 5-year-old boy hurt in fiery crash says his son is having a tough time

The 5-year-old boy's father said his son is tough and fighting through this dark time, now he's created a GoFundMe for hospital bills.

FORESTVILLE, Md. — The road to recovery continues for the boy who goes by the nickname Tank.

The 5-year-old boy who was rescued alongside his mother in a fiery crash in Prince George's County isn't doing so well, according to his father.

This is a time when faith is being tested.

"Just praying every time I get a chance, my knees are getting sore I'm praying so much," Tank's father, Actwood Brown said.

Brown is still holding on strong as he sits next to his son's bedside at the hospital.

"It's just been an emotional rollercoaster here," Brown said.

Tank was seriously injured after a multi-vehicle crash on I-495 southbound in Forestville on Monday. WUSA9 first showed you the video following the crash, which shows good Samaritans pulling the child out of the wreckage. Since then Tank's been fighting for his life.

"Right now, my son's condition has gotten worse," Brown said.

Things took a turn, Brown said Tank had two emergency surgeries. His father said Tank's off the feeding tube because he's been opened up for trouble with his intestines, and the burns to 30% of his body were already a lot to deal with.

"He's having a real, real, rough road,” Brown said. “It's just hard."

In a time of darkness, Brown said the prayers have really helped.

"I came back in the room and had doctors in the room, and the Chaplin in the room,” Brown said. "We were in there praying and our prayers were answered but we're still not out of the woods."

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with all the hospital bills.

As for Tank's mother, who was hurt in the crash, she is also still in the hospital.
