WASHINGTON — Applications are now open for the Career-Ready Early Scholar Program in the District.

Created by the D.C.'s Department of Employment Services (DOES), the program is meant for kids ages 9 to 13 to explore different subjects and topics they may be interested in pursuing as a career.

Participants can learn about and get experience in business, science, culinary arts and design fields, to name a few.

“The Career-Ready Early Scholar Program stands as a beacon for our pre-teens as a comprehensive exploration of professions through hands-on experiences,” said DOES Director Dr. Unique Morris-Hughes. “This exciting program serves as a foundation built on the pillars of confidence, responsibility, and a profound appreciation for the true value of work.”

Youth must be 9 years old by Sept. 30, 2024, to participate. Programming runs for 3- week increments starting June 24 through Aug. 2.
