Pedestrian hit by vehicle after shootout in DC

While one of the vehicles used in the shooting was leaving, it hit a pedestrian before it continued to drive away.

WASHINGTON — A portion of Pennsylvania Avenue was shut down Monday after a reported shootout in the area between two cars, one of which hit a pedestrian while driving away. 

According to a spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Ave. just after 3:15 p.m.

Officers said people inside two cars opened fire at each other before driving away. While one of the cars was leaving, it hit a pedestrian and continued to drive away.

There is no word on the victim's identity or current condition. No injuries were reported from the shooting.

Two outbound lanes of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, were closed while police investigated. 

MPD is now searching for a gray vehicle occupied by three men in ski masks, as well as a dark black or gray SUV with a hatchback.
