Officer shoots, kills 2 dogs in NW DC

Officers were responding to reports of a stabbing when the shooting happened. No evidence of a stabbing was found at the scene.

WASHINGTON — Two dogs are dead after an officer responding to a call for service shot and killed them on Thursday.

At 1:39 p.m., officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3600 block of 11th Street NW for a reported stabbing. At the scene, police say they were charged by two off-leash dogs. This is when one officer pulled out his gun and shot the animals. Both dogs were declared dead at the scene.

Officers did not end up finding evidence of a stabbing at the location.

No officers were injured as a result.
