Man struck, killed by Metro train in DC

Normal Metrorail service has resumed following the recovery operation.

WASHINGTON — A man was struck and killed by a Metro train late Monday night in Southeast D.C.

DC Fire and EMS announced on their social media account at 12:11 a.m. on Tuesday that they were conducting a Metro rescue at the Stadium Armory station, but that soon changed. Less than an hour later, at 1 a.m., the operation became a recovery as a man was pronounced dead at the location.

The Metro Transit Police Department informed WUSA9 that they are investigating the death. At this point of the investigation, they know that the man was trespassing and was struck by the train shortly after 11 p.m.

The identity of the man has also not been released at this time, this includes his name, age and where he is from.

Due to the operation that was underway, multiple Metrorail services were suspended, but according to an official with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) normal service has resumed.
