Did someone order puppies?

It may have been a temporary visit, but lots of people said it was the best delivery they every received: puppies!

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- It may have been a temporary visit, but lots of people said it was the best delivery they every received: puppies!

Templeton and Franco, two puppies around two-months-old, were part of a team of 10 that made their way around the D.C. are using the ridesharing company, Uber.

Uber patrons, instead of hailing cabs, paid a $30 fare to play with puppies for 15-minutes. People swarmed as soon as they heard barking!

"What a way to boost employee moral on a Wednesday? It's awesome!" said Monica Perez.

"This is like the perfect outlet just to, you know, say I'm taking a break because they give so much energy," Maria Bell said.

"Now I have to go back to my boring meeting," one Discovery employee said before petting Templeton one last time.

"It's great for the puppies because they get experience in socializing," said Linda Hudson, one of the Behavior and Training Assistants caring for the dogs during their visits.

More importantly, it's exposure for the adoptable pets. All the pups that went out today are living at the Washington Animal Rescue League while they look for their forever homes.

"We've never done anything like this, you know, it was kind of 'Puppies on Demand.' It was a great idea brought to us by Animal Planet and Uber and we thought, 'Well, this is a good way to get the word out there of the Washington Animal Rescue League.

WARL Executive Director, Bob Ramin, called the four-legged friends ambassadors, hoping they'll spread enough awareness to even get some of the older dogs adopted as well.

"When you think about a rescue animal," added Ramin, "it's an animal that's looking for a second start who's had a very hard home, whether it be in a puppy breeding facility or a home that they're unwanted or un-cared for... it just makes all the sense in the world to give an animal a second chance."

The puppy deliveries took place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday with lots of potty breaks in-between. The Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl XLIX is on February 1st, which is why they helped make Wednesday's even happen in the D.C. area.

The best part is, the money from the $30 fares is going toward the Washington Animal Rescue League. Find out more about the Washington Animal Rescue League here: http://www.warl.org/
