Cooling centers in DC: what you need to know

In addition to designated cooling centers, DC residents can go to any public library or recreation center during normal business hours, or the Adams Place Emergency Shelter.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — A heat emergency is in effect for Washington, DC, and officials are urging residents to take precautions.

District residents can get shelter from the heat at any public library or recreation center during normal business hours, or at the Adams Place Emergency Shelter.

Additionally, residents may access an interactive map of the city's cooling centers here.

Call the city's hyperthermia hotline at (202) 399-7093 for anyone who needs to be transported to a cooling center.
