Police: 4-year-old shot in DC

DC police said they found the young girl at the hospital conscious and breathing.

WASHINGTON — A 4-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound Saturday morning in D.C., according to DC police.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a hospital for reports of a walk-in victim. DC police said a four-year-old girl was shot. She was found conscious and breathing, according to police. It was later revealed the child was with an adult at the hospital. 

DC police believe the child was shot in the Rangle Highlands neighborhood, located on 28th Pl Southeast D.C.

It is unclear how the child was shot. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation.
