Woman attempts kidnapping while aboard the P12 Metrobus, police say

According to reports, the suspect attempted to take a young child from a stroller while aboard a P12 route bus around 1:30 p.m.

WASHINGTON — Metro Transit Police is searching for a woman wanted after an alleged attempted kidnapping on a Metrobus. 

According to reports, the suspect attempted to take a young child from a stroller while aboard a P12 route bus around 1:30 p.m. Police say the incident occurred in the 900 block of Southern Ave., Southeast D.C.

The woman was stopped before she could take the child, but she was also able to escape. 

Police released a picture of the suspect from surveillance cameras located on the bus Friday. Law enforcement is asking for the community’s help in identifying the woman from the photos. 

Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is asked to call Washington DC Crime Solvers at 202-962-2121. DC Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for the crime.
