34-year-old man shot, killed in Northeast DC

Police said the man was found not breathing and unconscious at the scene.

WASHINGTON — A Tuesday night shooting in Northeast D.C. has left a man dead and the Metropolitan Police Department searching for answers.

Officers responded to Anacostia Avenue Northeast, nearby Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, just a short distance away from the D.C.-Maryland state line, around 9:40 p.m. after a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

At the scene, DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services found that the victim showed no signs consistent with life. The man, later identified as 34-year-old Rynell Bradford, of Northeast D.C., was pronounced dead and remained at the scene until taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
