3 people hit by car in Southwest DC

All three people were conscious and breathing when help arrived.

WASHINGTON — Three people were taken to area hospitals after being hit by a car near the National Mall Wednesday evening.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers learned of pedestrians being struck near 7th Street and Independence Avenue SW around 5:30 p.m. 

When officers arrived, they found three people injured. All three people were conscious and breathing when they were taken to area hospitals for help. 

The driver of the call that hit the pedestrians stopped and remained at the scene. 

There is no word on what happened in the moments leading up to the crash at this time.
