Police shoot, kill dog that attacked woman and 2 children

Investigators say three people, identified only as a woman and two children, were injured in the reported dog attack.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after an adult and two children were injured in a dog attack Monday evening.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 800 block of 49th Street, Northeast shortly after 6:30 p.m. 

Investigators say three people, identified only as a woman and two children, were injured in the reported dog attack. All were conscious and breathing when help arrived. The two victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment. 

MPD says an officer witnessed the attack and shot the dog, killing the animal.
