ADELPHI, Md. — A 20-year-old man was shot to death in Adelphi on Tuesday, Prince George's County police said.
The victim was identified as Merlin Ramirez-Lara, of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring.
Around 6:15 a.m., police said they responded to the 8600 block of 20th Avenue for a welfare check. Ramirez-Lara was found outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police do not believe this was a random crime.
Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and a motive.
