Family asks for help, prayers after toddler drowns in Putnam County

"He is such a special boy and didn't deserve this. He has so much to live for and I would give anything to take his place."

The family of a 2-year-old boy in Putnam County is asking for help and prayers after their son accidentally drowned in Sante Fe Lake on Thursday.

"Our world changed May 2, 2019 when we lost our youngest son Jackson Lee," Christine Taggart's GoFundMe page states. "... I went through 9 years of infertility and I was finally blessed with this amazing human being 10/16/16."

Jackson Lee Taggart, 2, was reported missing around 7:30 a.m. in the Melrose neighborhood near the Sante Fe Lake on Thursday. Putnam deputies later found the child in the lake, unresponsive.

According to Putnam County Deputies, the father of the household left their home to take another child to school. That's when other adults noticed the 2-year-old was missing.

"He is such an amazing little boy," says Christine Taggart. "His smile only could light up a room or make your day so much better. His love for Mickey Mouse was undeniable. He loves the outdoors, adventurous, mischievous, absolutely funny, and the sweetest boy you could ever meet."

Taggart says they have four other kids at home who are devastated by the loss and the family is struggling to pay for funerals costs.

"Anything would mean the world to all of us," she says. "Even if it's just a prayer."
