MCLEAN, Va. — Snow falling hard and fast did not deter the true thrill-seekers. Those searching for the best free ride around arrived before noon at Lemon Road Elementary School in McLean. Huge snow flakes were falling.
The serious sledders know that the best time to come is when it's still snowing because the crowds stay home.
They came with parents in tow. They came with brightly colored saucers, snow tubes and flexible flyers. One serious young sledder, pointing to the ridges on the underside, said they'll will make go "100 miles per hour!"
