WASHINGTON — A teen is in custody for reportedly falsely calling police to an elementary school claiming there was a shooting.
On April 24, officers responded to T. Clay Wood Elementary School in Nokesville, Prince William County, at 7:36 p.m. to investigate reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they didn’t find any evidence that a shooting had occurred.
Police investigated the reports and were able to track down the call. Evidence showed that the call came from a student. Officers later learned that there was no credible threat to the school.
On Monday, officers arrested a 16-year-old and charged him with falsely summoning emergency services. The identity of the teen has not been revealed due to his age.
He is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center with a court date pending.
