Man accused of killing ex-girlfriend in fatal shooting has been identified

The shooting happened in the 3200 block of Woodburn Road, near the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

FAIRFAX, Va. — A woman was killed in an apparent domestic-related shooting in Annandale on Friday afternoon, the Fairfax County Police Department said.

The shooting happened in the 3200 block of Woodburn Road – near the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

During a press conference, police said Anesha Isaacs was an employee at the medical campus. They believe she was leaving work for the day and entered her car when her ex-boyfriend, Tylen Jennings, appeared and blocked her in. Police say Jennings opened fire while Isaacs was on the phone with dispatchers.

Jennings reportedly fled the scene immediately after. Isaacs, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police used surveillance footage to get the license plates from the car used by the suspect to flee. License plate readers captured the plates entering Maryland, giving police an idea of where Jennings was heading. Fairfax County Police reached out to Prince George's County Police to coordinate Jennings' apprehension.

During this time, Fairfax County Police began a preliminary investigation and found that Isaacs had a temporary restraining order in effect against Jennings during the time of the shooting.

Prince George's County Police say officers located a firearm in the car when they arrested Jennings. Investigators will begin testing the gun to see if it matches the one used in Friday's shooting. He is now being charged with Second Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Abduction, and Protective Order Violation.

Jennings is being being at the Prince George's County Correctional Center without bond, awaiting extradition back to Fairfax County.

Detectives from PGPD and FCPD will collaborate to determine when the couple split, why the temporary restraining order was issued, and if there have been other situations like this in the past since both couples reside in Maryland.
