PGPD issues barricade in Hyattsville, man taken to hospital with gunshot wounds

Authorities are investigating the incident. One adult male is believed to be inside a single-family house.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — A shooting turned barricade in Prince George's County has sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

On Saturday, PGPD was called to the 2100 block of Beechwood Road at 10:15 a.m. in response to a shooting. When officers arrived, they believed the shooter was inside the home and deemed it a barricade situation out of precaution.

Officers issued a shelter in place for residents in the vicinity. Police later learned that the shooter was not in the home and lifted the barricade and shelter in place around 4 p.m.

Police secured the home and located a man inside. He was taken to a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

As of now, it is unknown who the shooter is. Prince George's County Police has handed the case over to The Gun Crimes Unit to continue the investigation.
