DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. — A man is in the hospital after an officer shot him while he was allegedly attempting to flee from police in Prince George's County. Investigators say the man was wanted in connection to a stolen car.

At 3:05 p.m., detectives had their eyes on a carjacked car in the 5700 block of Silver Hill Road when they saw two men get out, wearing masks, and enter a store.

Detectives followed the men into the store and saw them behind the counter. At least one man was armed with a gun, police said. The officers said they announced themselves as police, and that the suspects then ran out the back of the store into the parking lot .

While in the parking lot, one detective shot a suspect. The second suspect was caught and taken into custody shortly after.

Police say the injured man is at an area hospital receiving care. He is expected to be ok.

Two guns were recovered in the parking lot of the store. A third suspect who remained seated in the carjacked car fled the scene after ramming an unmarked patrol car, police said.  That suspect was arrested in D.C. by MPD officers.
