Police: Triple shooting in Northeast leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

The shooting happened in the 2400 block of Franklin St., Northeast.

WASHINGTON — One man is dead and two others are injured after a shooting in Northeast D.C., police said.

D.C. police said they were called to the 2400 block of Franklin St., Northeast for the report of a shooting around 1:30 p.m. Monday. When they got there, they found one man suffering from gunshot wounds, unconscious and not breathing. He was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Police later found two additional victims injured. They're expected to be OK.

No other information was immediately available.

Additionally, police are investigating a homicide that happened Saturday morning in Southeast. This homicide marks D.C.'s first in 2020.

Police said the incident happened in the 2000 block of 19th Place, Southeast. Around 3:30 a.m, police went to the location for the report of a shooting. When they got there, they found a man inside a home suffering from a gunshot wound.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found "that the adult male victim displayed no signs consistent with life," police said.

The victim remained on the scene until he was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police believe the shooting happened inside the home. 

The decedent has been identified as 60-year-old Charles Robinson of Southeast. Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call them at (202) 727-9099.

MPD reported 166 homicides in 2019, and 160 homicides in 2018.
