Police charge a Woodbridge father for leaving his 2-month-old boy inside a car unattended while he went shopping inside a Walmart

The 2-month-old was unharmed.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The father of a 2-month-old boy in Woodbridge is facing charges for leaving his son in a car unattended while he went into Walmart.

On Saturday, April 13, officers responded to a Walmart store located in the 1400 block of Worth Avenue in Woodbridge, Virginia, to investigate an unattended child. The investigation revealed that a witness noticed the boy inside a car in the parking lot with no one around.

When officers arrived on scene, they noticed the parents with the boy who had been taken out of the car.

Officers determined that the father, later identified as Mirwais Alizada, 45, and other family members went inside the store, leaving the 2-month-old boy inside the car. The boy was unharmed as a result.

Following an investigation, police arrested and charged Alizada with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A court date is pending. Alizada is being held on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
