Police arrest man in connection to shooting in Northeast

When officers arrived on scene, they found evidence of a shooting, but no victim.

WASHINGTON — Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department have made an arrest in connection to a January shooting. 

On Friday, March 8, a D.C. Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Marcus Martin in connection to the shooting of a man. 

On January 11, officers received calls just before 9:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived at the 4200 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast, they found evidence of a shooting, but no victim.

Police were later contacted by an area hospital, where the shooting victim transported themselves seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. Medical staff treated the victim for a critical gunshot wound injury.

The victim did survive, their identity was not released. 

Martin is in custody and now facing Assault with Intent to Kill charges.
