Overnight assault lands DC deputy fire chief in jail, police say

Jon Grover will be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by DC Fire and Emergency Services after his release from jail.

MILFORD, Delaware — A DC deputy fire chief was arrested after analleged assault that occurred overnight Sunday at a home in Delaware. 

Deputy Chief Jon Grover will be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by DC Fire and Emergency Services after his release from jail, according to the department. 

At 4:37 a.m. Monday morning, Milford Police officers responded to a home where they arrested Grover for third-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor in the state of Delaware. 

WUSA9 reached out to DC Fire and Emergency Services who confirmed Grover's arrest. A spokesperson told us that Grover was arrested outside of the District over the weekend. 

"We do not know the details of his arrest at this time,  and he is not being paid by the department while on AWOL status," the spokesperson said. 

Detectives say after his release from jail, Grover will be place on administrative leave while the department conducts an investigation. 

No other information about what led up the assault or further details have been provided in this case.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
