The investigation revealed an extremely emaciated dog was left at the park by an unknown man who then drove away in a newer model white Range Rover.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William County Police have opened an animal cruelty investigation after an emaciated dog was found abandoned at a Woodbridge park over the weekend.

On Sunday, officers responded to investigate a dog that was found at  C. Lacey Compton Neighborhood Park on River Ridge Boulevard in Woodbridge the morning prior.

An investigation revealed that an extremely emaciated dog was left at the park by an unknown man who then drove away in a newer model white Range Rover.

Police say someone took the dog to the Prince William County Animal Services Center where the dog, identified as a male mixed-breed Hound dog between 6-12 months old, got medical care and is resting comfortably at this time.
