1 dead, 1 injured after shooting in Fairfax County

One person died and another was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police say.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — One person is dead and another has serious injuries after a shooting in the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County, police said. 

Police said the shooting happened at around 2:30 a.m. in the 7900 block of Sausalito Place in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, Virginia. Upon arrival, authorities found one victim, Kamren Quick, 18, of Alexandria suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers removed and transported Quick to a nearby hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Officers also discovered Jayden Quick, 20, of Alexandria dead inside the residence from a gunshot wound.

Fairfax County Police tweeted, "Officers are in the 7900 block of Sausalito Place in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County for a shooting. One person has died and another person was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Please avoid the area."

Police said that arrests have been made, but Fairfax County detectives are continuing to conduct interviews and examine all available evidence. Police said they do not believe this was a random act of violence.

Detectives are asking for anyone with information about this event to contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800. 

Anonymous tipsters are eligible for cash rewards of $100 to $1000 dollars if their information leads to an arrest.

Police said this is the 14th homicide year to date in Fairfax County.
