DC students tackle Shakespeare on the professional stage | Get Uplifted

The theatre where the students performed is a new venue and debuted with star actor, Ralph Fiennes in the role of "Macbeth."

WASHINGTON — Local students are reaching for the stars and grabbing them as they tackle Shakespeare on a professional stage. 

Students from Southeast D.C.'s Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter School recently participated in the Shakespeare Theatre Company's Spring 2024 School Residency Festival. 

The director of education at the theater, Eliseo Valero, helped to ensure the students performances were a huge success and a memorable occasion. The young actors got the chance to participate in the Shakespeare Theater's production of "Macbeth" with the theater's residency program.

The theatre where the students performed is a new venue and debuted with star actor, Ralph Fiennes in the role of "Macbeth."

Thurgood Marshall Academy was one of 10 participating schools to take part in the festival.
