Fairfax County Public Schools host day prom for special education students | Get Uplifted

After a 5-year hiatus, FCPS held it's multi-school day prom for around 100 special education students.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A prom like no other in the DMV is getting us uplifted with its impact and power of diversity, inclusion, and providing the feeling of being seen.

That was all on display recently at a multi-school prom that was held for a group of wonderful students who attend Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).

After a 5-year hiatus, FCPS held it's multi-school day prom for around 100 special education students.

Young people from Centreville, Chantilly, Edison, Hayfield, Justice, Lewis, Oakton and South Lakes high schools were there in their finest and got to dance, socialize and pose for the cameras at the CrystalView Wedding and Events Banquet Hall in Fairfax.

The juniors and seniors danced their hearts out to beats provided by Mc LAZ and there were no shortage of smiles to light up the space. Joining in on the fun were general education students, many from best buddies clubs in the county and members of a unified sports team from the county.

And a special shout out to CrystalView as they didn't charge FCPS for the venue and a dozen staff members volunteered their own time to help out with the prom, making it truly a community affair.
