WASHINGTON — Inches of wintry weather landed in the D.C. region Tuesday, and for many that was snow problem at all as they took advantage of all the joy it can bring.
As many people woke up Tuesday morning, they were informed of an additional snow day to extend their time off from MLK Day. The federal government offices even closed on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
And in true D.C. fashion, what better way to celebrate this than an early morning party, or a "snowball" if you will.
The Washington DC Snowball Fight Association (DCSFA) announced a large snowball fight coined "Battle of Snowpenheimer" on the National Mall starting at 8:30 a.m. The gathering was expected to last two hours
Snowballers met in the area between the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
This was DCFSA's 16th snowball fight event since February 2010.
Some posters did comment on the early start time, given the day off for most in the area. WUSA9 was on hand for the fight. Here's a look at the cold clash.
