WASHINGTON-- This pride month, the LGBTQ community will have a new milestone to celebrate thanks to Hulu and Big Bad Boo Studios.

The streaming service has ordered 13 episodes of The Bravest Knight; a brand-new children’s TV series focusing on a gay protagonist.

A first of its kind, The Bravest Knight will depict two interracial gay dads raising an adopted daughter. The story switches between Sir Cedric telling his daughter Nia how he went from a simple pumpkin farmer to a brave knight and Nia’s own knighthood journey.

Through her father’s stories and her own adventures, Nia learns “important values such as honor, justice and compassion.”

The series is based off the 2013 children’s book “The Bravest Knight That Ever Lived,” by Daniel Errico.

In a press release Hulu said, “The Bravest Knight continues Hulu’s commitment to connecting with kids and families through bold approaches in storytelling, and continues to be a supporter of LGBTQ content and creators.”

Unsurprisingly, the show has gathered a star-studded cast with T.R. Knight as the lead “Sir Cedric,” Bobby Moynihan as the troll “Grunt,” and Storm Reid as “Nia.”

RuPaul, Wanda Sykes, and many more talented voice actors can be expected to appear on the show.

Beginning June 21, the first five episodes will be available for streaming. Future episodes will be released later in the year.
