Annapolis Film Festival kicks off April 4

More than 70 films will be shown over four days, from April 4-7.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Annapolis Film Festival, which is in its 12th year, is back in town, running April 4-7. There will be 70-plus films playing at various venues throughout Maryland's state capital over the four days.

In addition to feature-length films, moviegoers can see shorts and documentaries. There will also be panel discussions and post-screening question and answer sessions with filmmakers and actors.

"The Annapolis Film Festival isn't merely about the films on the screen," organizers say. "It's about the conversations in the lobby, the friendships forged in line, and the tears and laughter that resonate through the darkened theaters. It's a place where the art of storytelling transcends boundaries, allowing us to see the world through the eyes of others. It fosters empathy, sparks dialogue, and empowers all of us to make a difference."

Among the films at this year's Annapolis Film Festival is "Fresh Kills," which was written and directed by Jennifer Esposito, who also stars in the film. Esposito is also known for her acting roles in CBS' Blue Bloods and NCIS. "Fresh Kills" is Esposito's directorial debut.

Also in the movie is Emily Bader. She plays the role of Rose Larusso--a young girl who discovers her father is an emerging mafia kingpin.

Both actors talked about their film Thursday on WUSA9's Get Up DC.
