We’ve hit the bobsled portion of the Olympics.

John Philbin and Greg Harrell jump in a car with WUSA9 Sports Director Darren M. Haynes to find out what goes into bobsledding.

Philbin, a former strength and condition coach with the Redskins and Nationals, was an Olympic bobsledder during the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia and in Calgary, Alberta, Canada during the 1998 Winter games.

Harrell, a former NFL tight-end and Maryland football star, was an Olympic bobsledder during the 1992 Winter games in Albertville, France.

The former Olympians describe a bobsled ride like car wreck.Harrell says a two man bobsled can travel up to 88mph while a four man bobsled can reach speeds as fast as 95mph.

There are only two bobsled tracks in the United States. The closest, Lake Placid New York, almost 500 miles away.
